no one understands how good my dream was last night..

i remember some fat bloke coming to look at our house and i convinced him to buy it because our garden was beautifully landscaped and had a posh fountain in the centre of it. and then i remember thOm driving a car to some arena type place and me and him just being nothing less than awkward the entire time. then i remember going on the waltzers with him at clacton and he started screaming like a little girl with his head band on. then i remember going on stage to perform one of my songs (50 sheets) with jonny just milling across the stage tuning his radio and then as i looked over thOm was playing his guitar overlooking the side of the stage and started singing with me.. he told me stop and he started playing my song on his own and made it sound infintely better. then i woke from complete amazement. partly because i couldn't believe i was singing with thOm yorke and partly because i really wanted to remember what thOm had done to make my song sound so much better...

i spent the most part of today jamming with the lovely georgia. i think so far our best bet was a cover of 'you' and hopefully '15 step' at some point. twas exciting stuff though.

i'm so full on chinese food. the thought of chinese food makes me feel incredibly sick actually.

HOW I WOULD KILL FOR A BOTTLE OF WINE RIGHT NOW.
hold your horses rachel, you're not a wino.

gossip girl is back from its break then i see! i do love gossip girl. um, what else? ah yes, there is an easter egg sat next to me. i am quite tempted to eat it.

but hey look, it's me. if it actually freakin' loads. see if you can guess which famous serial killer it's based on? apart from that though know that this is the first song i wrote back when i was 14 and i recorded it yesterday. that is all.

things to consider

  • i spent money in town for the first time in forever
i got this really pretty shirt from topshop which cost me £20. i haven't spent money in ages, so £20 for a top seemed like a lot of money at the time lol.
there's also a matching dinosaur one that i'm pondering whether to get or not.
obviously everything i buy/say/do has to relate to radiohead somehow, so i was exceedingly happy to find that a magpie* was one of the featured birds on my shirt.
i also bought £32.50 worth of candles which again, felt like a lot of money at the time, but now i am very pleased that i got them as my room smells glorious.
  • i'm going back into the recording studio next week
i haven't played those songs though since i was last in the recording studio, which was over a month ago now; this could cause some unforseeable dillemas me thinks. alison said that when she went into back into the recording studio to mix my orginal recordings, she literally just started crying and turned around to say 'that doesn't sound like rachel'. she also said that deep down she really didn't want to have to give me back those recordings because of how poor the quality of the recording is (nothing to do with my actual voice and guitar, she assures me). i definitely agree with her and i'm glad to know that richard is moving out all of his gear from the studio as a protest against mark. sorry mark, you're lovely but as alison said you made me sound like i'd been shut in a dust bin with a scarf over my face. the guy at pioneer can mix down the voice ridiculously quickly apparently, and knows everything about everything too. plus, he's also a really nice guy, so i've heard.
  • the piano showroom was like heaven and omg i want my new piano NOW
i went to this really really really lovely piano showroom in suffolk the other day. it was truly magnificient. after much delibiration i finally decided that on the piano that i want. it's a very compact korean number which has amazing feedback and a great crispness to it. it was between that one and a really sentimental looking german one. however the german one was far too classical for my liking, so i went for what felt best when i was having a little tinker on the keys. it's being delivered on thursday and i cannot wait, hopefully then, as thom says, all can become normal again.

I don't like dark chocolate, never have, never will.

I could stare at this forever, in fact I am staring at this forever..

Tomorrow, well technically today, I've got my first singing lesson in about a month! I think I'm just polishing my songs and reworking parts of them for the Easter hols. My singing teacher has been informed of my 'situation' and still hopes that I can make it into the recording studio in the Easter holidays. I really want to go back into the recording studio, except this time it'll be in a bigger, better studio in Colchester, opposed to the one I went to last time in Mersea. Me, Alison and Richard have all agreed that the job Mark did with the recording wasn't as good as it could of been to say the least... I can't really explain why, it just doesn't sound right. It makes it so much harder to admit is well because the guy was so lovely and helpful.

(During the day) tomorrow I'm going to really try and apply myself to do some artwork. I am so aware and concerned about the fact that I have an exam in about three weeks time and I still have over half a sketchbook to complete, not to mention the preparation that'll go into the final piece...

Enough of all that though, I feel I spend half of my time these days just worrying about exams and sketchbooks, it's so ridiculously sad.
You probably don't need to guess at what the other half of my time is spent thinking about..

This is currently my desktop. LOOK AT THAT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: ONLY 40 ODD PICTURES OF THOM/RADIOHEAD ON MY DESKTOP because I transferred the other 834 into a folder. Amazing.

Anyways, I'm off to watch Life on Mars and marvel upon the many wonders of Sam Tyler for a few hours so g'night.

P.S, WASN'T IT A LOVELY DAY TODAY!

I've just realised that I've spent the entire day looking like Jonny Greenwood.

I can't really say I'm complaining though. Because Jonny Greenwood is great. More than great in fact.

Know that the I Might Be Wrong recording of Like Spinning plates is fucking mesmerising. Far better than the original, I'm sure my boys would agree.

ah ah ah aha ah ahah ahaha aha ha ah hha ha

Thom makes trumpets sexy. Very sexy. I am not ashamed to admit my shallowness. But just OMG at the scatting....

Moving swiftly on. I'm totally buying my Lotus Flower dance T-Shirt tomorrow, even if it's the last thing I do.
Now I'm going to buy the I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings album on ye olde iTunes. It made no.4 on NME's top live albums. Which is pretty good I guess. But then no, it should be better. It has Idioteque on it for fucks sake.

ew ew ew ew ew ew ew

never have I been so disgusted in all my life. I absolutely detest the sound of my voice.
Apart from that though, I loved today.

Mission accomplished!

I'm bored of these songs. But I guess they're the only ones at the point of being able to be recorded.. Frantically practice them later I think. It's the big day tomorrow you see, seven hours in a recording studio. I really hope I don't get shunned from the mix down because I want to choose how I sound ha ha.

Brunch soon at Poppins. I hate breakfast you see.. Like actually physically cannot stomach it. God help me in America.

What else? Hmm, oh yes, thursday! Everyone better go! I literally want it to be 50 people. Ooo just think, I wouldn't be walking by riverside any time soon. Rumour has it there's been a sewage leak if ya get me...

If these rumours of Radiohead playing the first night of glasto are true.. well I personally think it would be less painful to saw my leg off than to be stuck at home because I didn't sign up for tickets meaning that seeing Radiohead is ever so slightly out of the question! Phew. Think positively Rachel, they're not playing there, they're not playing there... Some good news though is that father lee officially likes Radiohead more than Coldplay. Ha ha. Never thought I'd see this day. Also, he didn't know that No Surprises was a Radiohead song, as it's the only one that he actually heard when it was released in the 90's, oh the shame of it! Never mind, we forgive you, you've seen sense now and that's all that matters.

Finally, I cannot wait to hear the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album. Flea has allegedly learnt how to read music, you see...

Headache

qvest, October 08

The Brit awards are utter bull shit.
My prom dress arrived and it is shocking. In an absolutely fabulous kinda way. Ha ha, just waiting for the shoes now and they are even more flamboyant than the dress, if that is possible..

Dance you fucker dance you fucker

Loving life at the moment. I have a history exam due in for tomorrow and still so much art to do. Never mind though. It's half term next week. But even that isn't going to free up that much time. Monday is an emergency singing lesson, then Wednesday I'm in the recording studio all day then Thursday I'm in Holland-on-Sea to get my dress altered. Oh and then I want to go to London at some point. Gasp.

Oh well, Radiohead, Waterloo Road and Jacket Potatoes will make everything OK.

I could marry him.

3 for £15

All I want to do is lock myself in a room with a lovely sounding piano and my guitar and just write songs all day. Unfortuntely I can't. Unfortuntely I have an English essay that has to be written for tomorrow and a sketch book that won't paint itself.

I will make you like Radiohead more than Coldplay.

Time is the best healer.

I was foolishly thinking of doing some art or that horrific English essay today.. but then it occurred to me that I should go into town and buy some stuff with leftover Christmas/birthday money. After my once in a lifetime shopping expedition I think I shall meet up with the peeps and continue with my anti-sober weekend rule.

-

Also, can you imagine how terrible and fraudulent it would be to go into a recording studio and use a backing track for someone else's song? I mean if you really insist on using a backing track then at least let it be a backing track that you've created for your song. Geesh kapeesh, it's as bad if not worse than using auto tune! I say this as it's two weeks until I'm in the recording studio, I'm bricking it, but cannot wait to get a feel for what it's like. After my recordings have been.... recorded... I shall seek advice from my lovely mentor, Alison. She'll know where to go from there. I know though that two days after my recording I'm doing open mic again, which will be a laugh.

Oh and I just finished watching this weeks edition of Skins. It's really quite bad isn't it? Obvious, boring, monotonous and absolutely NOT skins. I mean a skins story about an insecure virgin? Part of being a skins character is losing your virginity when you're 10 years old. (Unless of course your name is Pandora. But she can get away with it. Because she is cool). What am I saying? It really wasn't that terrible the more I think about it. I think the reason I personally don't really like this new generation is for the fact that the majority of them are awful actors.

Finally, despite what I said about my gig fatigue. I really really really want to see Death From Above 1979 in May.

This is a low (down)

First of, I think it's brilliant how you can get less than 50% on a higher paper and still get a B. This is music to my ears as far as my chemistry exam tomorrow is concerned.

But yes, I haven't really had time to post this week due to music lessons, revision, art and a bit more revision. This week has been awful. I finished three sketch books in the space of around 6 hours for art. My art teacher gave me some well deserved recongition for this, as some of the pages were surprisingly well thought out for me! Then I had my biology exam. If you'd asked me how I thought I was going to do on Monday I probably would've laughed in your face. However, after my revision session with Mr. Jordan on Tuesday I was far more confident. Then come the day of the exam I think it went rather swimingly. I mean let's not get carried away here, I doubt it did that amazingly. However, I reckon I exceeded a pass, which is good enough for me!

"you know when you just know that you did utterly shit. Not even in a 'let's just pretend to act really surprised if I do well' thing. Just a general 'I did shit.'" this is honestly how I felt about my English results right up until I saw the little letter on the piece of paper and I just shouted FUCK OFF?! I was generally that shocked at how well I'd done. Literally.

Earlier I went to some guitar unit at the Cowdray Centre with my singing teacher and papa. It was like a mini masterclass in how you know whether your guitar is in good condition or not. My singing teachers partner who just so happens to work there went through what needed adjusting to stop the strings snapping. He did this without being condescending or degrading about any of it. Which was lovely because if you ask these sought of things at Manns Music they practically laugh in your face. But yes, my baby went on the operating table and I was with her every step of the way. I went home knowing how to restring a guitar and lemon scented guitar.

Now, after a drive and some shopping, I'm sat doing some Chemistry revision. I'm not too nervous about my exam tomorrow after seeing the mark scheme and what not.

Nine days til my birthday and eight days til Gossip Girl starts! Yesterday my dad and my sister went to Brick Lane to get me some birthday presents. I've told anyone getting me anything to literally get me anything. This year I am completely open to surprises. This mainly being due to my attention being drawn to whether my birthday party will be a pulpable hit, or not?

Oh and finally some awesome news! I'm in the recording studio on the 23rd of Feb! AT A MASSIVE DISCOUNT!

(Alex James is sooo cute)
