happy birthday bobby d

my newspaper album came today, it's beautiful but is slightly poignant as due to its arrival i haven't been able to concentrate on revision for the two exams i have this week, one of them being tomorrow morning..

radiohead lsd must be the best lsd in the world
not that stanley designed them for lsd purposes or anything

~my english literature exam didn't go magnificently badly but it wasn't magnificent either. just sort of ok computer. time will tell whether i wrote the right things down or not. whatever, now i can start reading again (i'm really funny about reading a book whilst studying one because it confuses me and my short attention span and i always muddle parts of and lose focus on the book that i actually need to be reading)

speaking of lsd, i read somewhere that bob dylan has outted his heroin addiction or something. and on nme the headline was 'happy birthday bob dylan, what present shall we get him? not heroin'

but now now now now NOW
it's white stripes night
i'm actually going to revise because i'm not giving up that A in chemistry without a fight

ah ah ah aha ah ahah ahaha aha ha ah hha ha

Thom makes trumpets sexy. Very sexy. I am not ashamed to admit my shallowness. But just OMG at the scatting....

Moving swiftly on. I'm totally buying my Lotus Flower dance T-Shirt tomorrow, even if it's the last thing I do.
Now I'm going to buy the I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings album on ye olde iTunes. It made no.4 on NME's top live albums. Which is pretty good I guess. But then no, it should be better. It has Idioteque on it for fucks sake.

Mish/mash

YOU KNOW THAT:
DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979
MICK JAGGER
"After months of speculation it looks like Kate Moss and Jamie Hince are finally set to marry, we read. The Kills man apparently popped the question to Moss while the couple were in bed on Tuesday night (February 1). Ever the romantic, he waited until the lights were off before surprising her with the announcement. Moss has supposedly quipped that she is going to be the most famous Kate to marry this year – eclipsing a certain Ms Middleton's wedding to Prince William (The Sun)."
The rawest, most nervous Jack & Meg I have ever seen.. "Then, after the second show, Jack White decided he wanted to have some fun, and followed a group of us (including future NME editor Krissi Murison, who gave him a lift) to an indie club in central London. Once there he bought us drinks, chatted to amazed fans and gyrated to Justin Timberlake's 'Like I Love You' on the dancefloor. It was beyond surreal."

Contrary to my initial reaction, I am not one of those people who feels that The White Stripes are dead. Neither am I one of those people who feels like they are one of the only bands to ever disband purely on artistic bases. I mean think about it, The White Stripes have supposedly been in the recording studio for the past year. If this is true than what Jack White said about releasing unreleased White Stripes material is just a bit of a fix to boost sales for their new material. (We've already seen their most recent release of Under Great White Northern Lights sales boost by 2,644% due to their split) The only difference is that the future released material won't be followed up by any live appearances - for the next few years anyway... So yes, farewell for now White Stripes, I have no doubt I will seeing more of you in the future.
P.s, I want nothing more than for you to prove me wrong about the Janus accusations.

This is a low (down)

First of, I think it's brilliant how you can get less than 50% on a higher paper and still get a B. This is music to my ears as far as my chemistry exam tomorrow is concerned.

But yes, I haven't really had time to post this week due to music lessons, revision, art and a bit more revision. This week has been awful. I finished three sketch books in the space of around 6 hours for art. My art teacher gave me some well deserved recongition for this, as some of the pages were surprisingly well thought out for me! Then I had my biology exam. If you'd asked me how I thought I was going to do on Monday I probably would've laughed in your face. However, after my revision session with Mr. Jordan on Tuesday I was far more confident. Then come the day of the exam I think it went rather swimingly. I mean let's not get carried away here, I doubt it did that amazingly. However, I reckon I exceeded a pass, which is good enough for me!

"you know when you just know that you did utterly shit. Not even in a 'let's just pretend to act really surprised if I do well' thing. Just a general 'I did shit.'" this is honestly how I felt about my English results right up until I saw the little letter on the piece of paper and I just shouted FUCK OFF?! I was generally that shocked at how well I'd done. Literally.

Earlier I went to some guitar unit at the Cowdray Centre with my singing teacher and papa. It was like a mini masterclass in how you know whether your guitar is in good condition or not. My singing teachers partner who just so happens to work there went through what needed adjusting to stop the strings snapping. He did this without being condescending or degrading about any of it. Which was lovely because if you ask these sought of things at Manns Music they practically laugh in your face. But yes, my baby went on the operating table and I was with her every step of the way. I went home knowing how to restring a guitar and lemon scented guitar.

Now, after a drive and some shopping, I'm sat doing some Chemistry revision. I'm not too nervous about my exam tomorrow after seeing the mark scheme and what not.

Nine days til my birthday and eight days til Gossip Girl starts! Yesterday my dad and my sister went to Brick Lane to get me some birthday presents. I've told anyone getting me anything to literally get me anything. This year I am completely open to surprises. This mainly being due to my attention being drawn to whether my birthday party will be a pulpable hit, or not?

Oh and finally some awesome news! I'm in the recording studio on the 23rd of Feb! AT A MASSIVE DISCOUNT!

Joan Hickson is from Colchester?

I like Miss Marple now. But more importantly, may I avert your attention to these funny quotes from NME over the past year:

"I'm nobody's fucking boss. I don't have a fucking boss so I wouldn't want to be one of them... Everyone can kiss my fucking ass. I used to have a boss... You know what that guy does now? He fixes the fence on my farm." (Caleb Followill, Kings Of Leon)

On The Drums: "When I see bands like The Drums being fawned over, it makes me feel ill. There is literally no soul in that band." (Nicky Wire, Manic Street Preachers) - this is my personal favourite.

On sexual fantasies: "I had this dream once, but my cat woke me up before I fucked Kurt Cobain." (Akiko Matsuura, The Big Pink/ Comanechi)

On wealth: "I'm rich enough now to have you killed." (MIA)

On drugs: "I saw a winged lizard ascending a spiral staircase. At the top of which was a glowing white orb... the orb was God." (Jamie Reynolds, Klaxons)

On bad habits: "I've got a scab on my stomach which I've been picking bits off and eating occasionally." (Yannis Philippakis, Foals)

On unusual pets: "My bearded dragon is not a sexy pet. It's got salmonella in its shit... He's cool though, very punk." (Plan B)

On politics: "The Tories? I'd just set fire to the fuckers. I mean, they're just horrible, aren't they?! I would actually set fire to them. Every single one of them, one by one." (Tom Meighan, Kasabian)

On sex: "This record is not coming-of-age, it's just cumming... it's got a lot of cock in it." (Will Rees, Mystery Jets)

See how intellectual and cultured the pioneers of music are?

And you thought that X Factor couldn't get any worse...

http://www.nme.com/news/david-bowie/53429

"Yet another fantastic song is tainted by the stench of talentless no-marks who simply hunger for fame. The only thing in it's favour is that it will raise money for charity. Maybe we need a Facebook campaign to get the original to number one ahead of the X Factor pop muppets." - A genius on the NME website who knows how it is. I could not of put it better myself.

NME 29/09/10

Why NME is being purchased this week:
  1. David Bowie feature/gallery/spread
  2. MGMT spread
  3. Dish on Adam's betrayal of The Drums
  4. The usual appearances such as the Klaxons
  5. DID I MENTION IT'S A BOWIE COVER?
