I never did speak of Christmas.

Well it was alright I suppose but nothing spectacular. The highlight of christmas was Doctor Who. Then the Harry Potter Wii game (which I think I might go and play). But no, I don't think it was on christmas day itself, but I watched that mini-series of Upstairs Downstairs. It was enormous fun! As they would say! I love period drama, it's truly splendid.

This was indeed me on Christmas day. Wearing my new H&M jumper gifted from Father Lee, testing my new nano straighteners from sister of mine and also testing the new make-up cousin Alice got me. I appreciate them all! It sickened me to see facebook posts later on with people literally listing what they got as a status. Did you know that gluttony and greed are deadly sins?

Ahem, so! Christmas was another good day I guess. Now roll on New Years Eve tomorrow! Hopefully got some of the girls over for a messy lovely time.

Hmm

I'll get onto Christmas later, but tonight there seems to be a lot of religious angst floating around the news feed... I suppose whether you like to think you're an atheist who only believes in 'facts' or someone who does support a faith such as Christianity, you're still believing in something.

Those who disbelieve in God but are quick to believe in the big bang theory are complete fools. Do they realise that the big bang theory is potentially just as ridiculous and elaborate as you may think God is? There is no proof for either. As the narrator of that show (which I well believe to be my true love, Benedict Cumberbatch) once said "The big bang theory is so close to a perfect fit, that it may all be completely wrong." Think about it, it's a completely human perspective of the universe. Isn't the percentage something like 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the universe(s) we actually know of. How can we possibly deduce the theory of all matter and existence by only going on what we humans know. I think it's ludicrous to think so two dimensionally, pardon the pun. Who actually knows whether there's such thing as time travel and once upon a time a time traveller came down and gave us a bit of a start? Who knows whether God is real? Who knows whether the big bang theory is actually a water tight theory? Who knows how a paradox would actually work and what it would entail? Or the equation for travelling faster than light? Obviously the answer to all of the above is The Doctor, but that's completely besides the point, sort of.

So yes, my own personal faith is the fine science of deduction, analytical facts juxtaposed to the imaginitive theory. Basically, Sherlock.

//rant over.

so this is christmas...

and what have we done?

so our idea of a christmas celebration is wrapping up a poor, defenceless bottle of baileys in a condom... before you ask, yes Emily was there ;)

two weeks of seldom freedom..

I haven't posted in a while. I suppose quite a lot has happened in a way. I dyed my hair, got a bowl, did a bit of christmas shopping, got crunk, watched some TV... the usual stuff.

This is how I'm feeling today. Just high on life basically. This flash on the photobooth doesn't quite capture how incredibly bright my hair is right now.. although it is beginning to already fade (as you may be able to see). I'm going to go all out for my grammar interview though and use a bit of the olde John Frieda shit.

But yes, enough on hair! I'm still highly excited at the fact that Stella won The Apprentice and am gagging to catch up on my dear old Sherlock.

You might as well face it..

Today was the lovely Lee Family Christmas meal. Every year we have the annual feast at the same pub in Aldham that played host to my open mic gig. It was so lovely and filling, although one thing I quickly realised was how little food I eat. I mean I seriously hardly ever eat. The rest of the group were well into their 10th potato and I was struggling to finish one slice of turkey. Oh my, oh my. I also realised how well spoken my cousins are, particularly the eldest, Tom. It makes me weep.

After I've harvested my crops on Frontierville I suppose I better finish reading To Kill A Mockingbird and also maybe finish sewing that Monet thing.

This is pretty. For Florence.

Hello my pretty

I've been looking through the old archives of Disney films. My conclusion is that I love the Disney animation team more than anyone. I'm not even going to pretend I know which is my favourite film, all I know is that Snow White, Aristocats, Alice in Wonderland and Bedknobs and Broomsticks are up there.

But then what would a Disney film be without a really scary villain? I think the most wicked villain is Ursula, from the Little Mermaid. She literally made me cry with fear and anger when I was a wee lass. In fact, she probably still does.

There's so much to write about and so little time to do so. Let me try and number this:
  1. Florida. I am so excited. Harry Potter, turkey legs, a massive load of pointless merchandise, thunder mountain and the beautiful beautiful castle. Thinking of all these Disney films only helps this childish mood.
  2. CHRISTMAS! I cannot wait! I've had christmas songs on repeat all night. Tis' the season to be jolly, fa la la la la, la la la la!
  3. I love jazz at the moment. In fact, if it wasn't for all these christmas songs, I'm sure that a load of swinging beats would be emulating from these speakers.
  4. This Picasa download is taking forever. (I'm in the process of creating a rather groovy Disney background for this old thang you see.)
  5. Not that I care, but apparently the new Facebook layout is disgusting.
  6. If I don't do any Textiles tomorrow night I'm dead meat. Which reminds me, I have a singing lesson tomorrow.
  7. I got an offer from sixth form. Yippee.

"Started off all well and good, ended up high & dry."

Last night was a bit crazy. Started off all well and good, ended up high & dry. Not sure what that means; read what you like into it. But yes, the usual homesickness and boredom soon sunk in so it wasn't too long before midnight that I was all tucked up with a cup of FL tea watching Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, laughing at the true irony of the world.

Enough on that jazz.
This morning I went into town to buy Christmas presents for the cool cats: Jenny, Emily, Chrissie and India. I completely fail at buying presents which can be taken seriously. I also managed to get some dye (Yes I'm planning on having a Textiles revolution after this post) for the Monet final piece I want to do.

I have some ideas about how to go about this. Maybe start of with the initial blue and yellow dying of some fabric. Then add some distressed stitching to represent the outline of the stalks and petals. Basically, I want it to follow in the footsteps of Carolyn Saxby. So I shall be piling on the glitter, beads, paper lame', chiffon and anything else that looks remotely vibrant. I'm debating whether to do an 'Art Quilt'. Batik is out of the question. I don't have a steady enough hand. But equally, the one time I have used quilting in my textiles, it resulted in near disaster. So maybe not? Who knows. I'll sketch out some plans later.

I'm cooking later! Oh yes! I'm so excited! I made dinner Friday night for me and Jeff too. God I love turkey legs. (This will bring me onto Florida soon). I've got all the correct ingredients, apart from the fact I got chicken breast instead of chicken chunks. But that's no matter. Also, I purposely didn't buy any spring onions to put in the sauce. I basically hate onions unless they're in a hot dog. So yes, better start on the chicken as it needs to be left to marinate with the lime for at least an hour. I'll give you 411 on how every thing's going.

Father Lee has just finished assembling the £15 Ikea table which is about to clutter my room. However it does mean that I actually have a decent sized work top to do my art work on now. Which is exactly what I'm going to go and do now.

I'll give you the review of the dinner, X Factor updates, Textiles lowdown and holiday news later on. For now I leave you with an absolutely stunning performance from the lovely Liverpudlian Rebecca Ferguson

Tensions are running high and all I want to do is lock myself in my room with my guitar, the peep show box set, harry potter, soup and a lot of vitamin water. I could literally live of this stuff.

So I had a bit of a blow earlier. T&G finally phoned me back as a 'courtesy call' to humiliate me further.. yes I get it; I'm poor.

But onwards and upwards! I'm looking forward to saturday night, should be a laugh. Although I've probably mentioned this before. Snow day was alright, although when I got in the car the first thing Father Lee asked me was "have you been drinking? because you really really really smell of booze Rachel." I replied with, "Why yes, yes I have.". So he said, "Well you're not pissed, I can tell. Just wind the window down or something." I love my dad. He asked me to come up with a christmas list because other members of the family need to know what to buy me. So far the list is:
  • Jedward tee
  • Grease DVD
  • Peter Pan DVD
  • Tatty Devine jewellery
  • Gossip Girl/Jedward calendar
I literally don't know anything else I want. Maybe just some cash. Anything worth buying I'll buy in July when I'm in the world of Disney. Oh I don't know, I just want someone to genuinely surprise me.

I'm going to go and watch Sherlock. Because he is the one.

I feel like death

So father gave us that Dance Broadway game on Wii as an extremely early christmas present. He claims that he felt sorry for us as we had to go into school because of the snow. Aw. No one however can truely rectify my sadness. What I want more than anything though is for Toni & Guy to phone me back and either be the bearer of bad news or the bringer of hope!

Again, I've just been watching Peep Show all evening. God I love the El Dude Brothers. But now I must do some silly English homework. I should also be doing some silly art/textiles, but let's face it, who can be bothered? A good grade in Art is almost a certainty, and as for textiles, there's no way I'm going to be able to hand in three completed sketchbooks by christmas. But hey ho, that being said, I feel like going and giving it a go (I'll do anything other than English basically).

The most important thing right now is the fact that I finished the song that's in sonata form! Hip hip hooray! This reminds me, I couldn't make my singing lesson tonight because the roads into Brightlinsea where trecherous! There was like a full on blizzard going home via Elmstead. Looking out of the window hopefully we can expect a day of snow? Na, I'm not getting my hopes raised, much.
