colin & ed from radiohead just said that they're taking a break, and are just hoping to get into a room together to jam. i know i'm being incredibly selfish when i say I FORBID YOU TO DO THIS. GO ON TOUR NOW OR RELEASE ANOTHER FOOKIN ALBUM.

ok rant over. well actually only part of rant over.

i've got a terrible headache. and i'm aware that being in front of a screen probably isn't the best way to help this. however, nothing i do would reduce the headache. for instance, watching life on mars, listening to radiohead through my headphones, playing my guitar and singing.. etc etc... none of these things are going to help. just ahhhhhhhh. i'm annoyed. and hungry.

and i have about three days to finish a pretty much empty sketchbook. in the meantime i have to see cat lady, decide whether i want to move into the sherlock house and pretend that i'm ok to everyone.

now for a list of records i'd like to obtain on record store day (all quoted from NME):
  • The White Stripes' first ever release 'Let's Shake Hands' backed with 'Look Me Over Closely'. It's available on red and black vinyl with a fold-over picture sleeve.
  • The Kills have remixed their recent single 'Satellite', this time it features DJ Mad Professor who's done a dub version for a 10" vinyl edition.
  • A re-issue of Nirvana's previously Japan/Australia only 1992 EP 'Hormoaning'. It's limited to 6000 copies on coloured 12" vinyl and features 6 tracks. There are 4 covers (including The Vaselines 'Molly's Lips') plus two originals ('Aneurysm' and 'Even In His Youth').
  • A double dose of glam-wave art rock from early, Brian Eno-featuring Roxy Music. Their debut single, 1972's 'Virginia Plain' is backed with 1973's 'Pyjamarma' and limited to 500 copies.
  • Keep an eye out for a re-issue of Sonic Youth's 1993 tour-capitalising EP 'Whores Moaning'. The EP, which referenced Nirvana's 'Hormoaning' release, features a cover of the New York Dolls' 'Personality Crisis', Alice Cooper's 'Is It My Body' as well as rare 'Dirty'-era tracks 'Tamra' and 'The End Of The End Of The Ugly'.
  • Gil Scott- Heron and Jamie XX are set to release a special box set edition of their acclaimed collaboration 'We're New Here' featuring photos and lavishly designed artwork.
  • Metronomy's recent 'The Look' single gets issues on 7" with an exclusive non 'English Riviera' b-side 'Picking Up For You'.

i'm so scared

i'm really apprehensive as to whether i'm going to get the limited edition radiohead single on saturday or not.

i reckon i'm going to have to get a ridiculous o'clock train to be within a chance. the newspaper thing was different because they had hundreds of them and it was at a monday lunch time. this however is an extremely limited edition single which rough trade will probably only stock around 5 of, plus it's radiohead which automatically equals crazy fans, plus it's a saturday which means there'll be more people like me going down there, plus it's record store day so it'll be hectic whether radiohead were releasing a new single or not.

gah, i'm so nervous. i really want it. but hey ho, if all else fails i'll just have to make do with hail to the thief or something. ooooooo i wonder if they have posters?

erm so yeah, also over the last few weeks i've become more and more confident in the music that surrounded the decade of my birth - we are of course talking about the 90s. you know, once you get past scooter and the spice girls, there's actually quite a lot of amazing stuff there. unlike a decade such as the 60's though it's not as blatant and in your face, you have to look beyond the stereotypes a wee bit more.

basically, beck & bjork have taking over the airwaves in my room. (radiohead don't count because they're just quite simply, the air).

He belongs in Madame Tussuads

Today I met Thom Yorke

So I got out of bed, got ready and headed up to Brick Lane with papa. I know I am one inclined to paranoia, but I felt it was awfully strange how when we got to Rough Trade at about 11:15 there seemed to be no sign of a queue whatsoever, however as soon as we stood in the middle of the road, within the next minute there was a magically formed queue that snaked round the road.

I was probably about the tenth person awaiting The Universal Sigh and I went into Rough Trade to purchase my TKOL vinyl while papa waited in the queue. People kept dodging past us (as we were awkwardly stood in the middle of the road as I mentioned before) and a couple of men strolled past, in which I managed to catch one of them say "Oh yeah, it's that Radiohead thing, they're turning up apparently" as if it was no big deal. I just turned round to papa and started laughing, all "Yeah, on what fucking planet are they going to show up?"

It was fate that every time I looked at my phone exactly two minutes had passed. It was also fate that whilst everyone else was having some deep conversation about thepossibilty of TKOL part 2, I looked up and exclaimed "OH MY GREENWOODS!!!!!!!!". Naturally everyone stared, thinking that I was due back at the mental home. I just shouted again "OH MY GREENWOODS". Still nothing. "IT'S THOM... IT'S THOM!!!!". Well eventually everyone seemed to get the message that it was Thom Yorke standing there and naturally, like you do in these situations, everyone got their cameras out and started taking pictures. I think I was the only one who was suffering from a fit of "fangirlism" however.

So yeah, basically we all waited and went up to get our paper. Stanley gave me mine, but 'accidently' gave me two, so adding the other one papa got, I now have three papers. Once I got them I went to go and meet/get my picture taken with Thom (he looks EXACTLY like you'd imagine him to, strange thing to say I know, but it's true). He said "Hey" with a little nod that spoke volumes of 'yeah, you love me, aren't I amazing'. I giddily glanced back and then the first (and pretty much only) thing I said to him was "do you have any idea how awkward it is standing here with a picture of you on my top?" he laughed and said "you feel awkward? Imagine how I feel stood here with all these fookin people... blahhhhhh!". We laughed again. We turned to the cameras, I had no idea where I was suppose to look and then after about five seconds we both turned to each other, said goodbye and I skipped off.

I love him so much and I could die tomorrow in the safe knowledge that I am the happiest person that ever lived.
